Systems Engineer- Windows
Position Overview:
We are seeking a Windows Systems Engineer (preferably with some Linux experience) with experience supporting customer facing internet application environments. As well as being highly client facing, a broad understanding of enterprise infrastructures and application architectures is required. This position offers an opportunity to work with a highly talented team of Engineers, Technical Architects, Project Managers and some of the most advanced media companies in the world.
Responsibilities:
Ensuring the availability and functionality of customer systems and infrastructure, to agreed levels of service, by pro-actively monitoring, maintaining and upgrading
these systems.
Management of an incident ticket stack and individual ticket progress for their customers, with the expectation that incidents are resolved within the terms of an SLA
Managing the timely and successful resolution of all requests coming in from customers and internal development teams relating to the service.
Collaborating with fellow engineers to quickly and efficiently expedite the resolution of issues. This includes incident management, change management and problem
management.
Providing capacity, availability and service continuity management for customer systems and infrastructure.
Provide on-call and out-of-hours support.
Required Qualifications
Both Windows Server administration & Linux systems (preferably Debian and RedHat based distributions of Linux)
Configuration management (Puppet, Chef)
Common web delivery applications (Nginx, Varnish, Apache HTTPD, IIS)
Common protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP, etc.)
Understanding of cross platform relational databases (Percona , MSSQL)
At least one common scripting language from Python, Ruby, Perl, Powershell, VBS, TrafficScript
Load Balancing technologies (Corosync, MS Cluster, f5, StingRay)
Desired Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years experience in systems administration, support and project delivery.
ITIL knowledge is beneficial but not required.
Good communication skills and can-do attitude.
Technical Skills
Managing platforms in AWS or other IaaS clouds
Java application servers (Jetty, Tomcat)
Virtualisation (KVM, VMware)
Continuous delivery / Integration (Jenkins , Bamboo, Go)
